Birmingham and Solihull selects Hyland’s OnBase EDMS

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) has selected Hyland Healthcare to digitise and manage its clinical and back office documents.

Hyland’s OnBase electronic document management platform will help improve medical data management and reduce operational costs at the trust.

Beginning with a three-month pilot, the goal of the project is connect all departments and specialties across the organisation and improve the patient experience with mobile technologies.

Dr James Reed, CCIO at BSMHFT, said: “We are launching this initiative with OnBase to create a truly interoperable platform where our existing technology investments can work together to create a comprehensive patient record.

“With a more complete record that captures structured and unstructured content, our clinicians will have everything they need at their fingertips to make more informed clinical decisions that can improve patient outcomes.”

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recognised by the NHS as one of seven Global Digital Exemplars for the UK in the mental health category.

Choosing to adopt OnBase as a “future-ready” content management platform is part of their digital strategy.

In February, the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust partnered with Hyland Healthcare to deliver a comprehensive imaging solution that could be integrated with their respective EPR systems.
