A number of GP practices across Bradford have been experiencing IT problems, reportedly due to an issue with air conditioning at a data centre.
NHS Bradford City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) confirmed on 24 October that GP practices in Bradford district and Craven were experiencing IT issues.
Services affected by the problems included electronic referrals to hospitals, prescription printing and checking pathology lab results.
According to BBC News, the fault impacted 81 practices and was caused by a problem with air conditioning at a data centre in Bradford.
NHS Bradford City CCG added that its IT provider, eMBED Health Consortium, was working “to resolve the situation as soon as possible”, although there was no mention of when this would be.
“In the meantime, please be patient with your GP practice’s staff whilst they deal with these ongoing issues and start to tackle the backlog of work that will result from it,” the CCG said.
Digital Health News has contacted NHS Bradford City CCG for a comment and update.
A widespread network failure at two NHS data centres in Wales caused “chaos” at Welsh health boards in January.
The exact cause of the “technical glitch” was never disclosed.
