Genomics England is looking to hire a chief digital officer to lead on some of its key services.
The newly created role is advertised at a salary of £149,000 per year. It’s a six-month fixed term contract based in London.
“Working closely with the CEO, the CIO, the chief scientist, and the rest of the top team, the chief digital officer will lead the conception, design, development, launch and operations of our key services,” the advert states.
“Each of those services is delivered via a range of existing and planned cutting edge products (from bioinformatics to genomic data wrangling, to cancer registry automation), each built and supported by cross functional teams of clinicians, scientists, engineers, designers, and bioinformaticians.
“As CDO your ‘true north’ will be real world outcomes for patients, healthcare professionals and researchers, and influencing and improving those outcomes using any digital tools at our disposal, with robust technical foundations.”
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Genomics England executive team.
Other parts of the healthcare service are also recruiting for key digital leaders. NHSX is continuing its recruitment drive and currently looking for directors of each of its five missions.
In a blog post, published on LinkedIn, the CCIO for health and care and deputy CEO at NHSX, Simon Eccles, said recruitment was “currently live for three out of five” of the missions.
Eccles added that directors for each mission will have three groups of functions, along with a £100,000 yearly salary.
This includes being an advocate for the said mission and being in charge of delivering it.
