London to begin new Regional Digital Responses to Covid-19 series

This Friday Digital Health will add a new regional focus to its highly popular Digital Responses to Covid-19 webinars, beginning with London.

Each of the regional focus webinars will highlight a range of digital responses to Covid-19 in an NHS region. We begin with London, one of the hardest-hit regions of the country, which has been at the fore of using digital to help respond to the pandemic.

The webinar, offered free to members of Digital Health Networks, will provide a series of snapshots of key initiatives in the capital to help give attendees a bigger picture from those leading initiatives and put their questions to them in a lively Q&A.

The panel for the London Digital Responses to Covid-19 webinar includes leaders who have been at the fore of London’s response, including providing the digital infrastructure for the new Excel Nightingale Hospital, accelerating information sharing across the capital and moving to remote care at unprecedented scale

We have a great line-up of London’s NHS digital leaders for this first regional Covid-19 webinar:

  • Sonia Patel, NHSX CIO
  • Sarah Jensen, CIO Barts Health NHS Trust
  • Lisa Emery, CIO Royal Marsden NHS FT
  • Luke Readman, CIO London Regional Office, NHSEI

The webinar series provides a unique opportunity for local NHS IT leaders, who are members of Digital Health Networks, to put their questions directly to national leaders, share local experiences and identify current obstacles and blockers.

Launched on 20 March, the series has so far included 11 Webinars, with an average of 200-500 attendees per webinar. In total, over 2,000 people have joined the webinars so far.

The digital responses to Covid-19 Webinar series run twice a week. Each Tuesday there is an update briefing and Q&A from national leaders. Presenters have so far included: Sarah Wilkinson, CEO NHS Digital, and Simon Eccles and Gareth Thomas from NHSX.

Then each Thursday or Friday there is an update on a key product or service being used to help respond to Covid-19. Topics covered so far include: video consultations with Prof Trish Greenhalgh; Microsoft Teams; Digital Staff Passport; Digital First Primary Care; and Remote Working.

The new regional series that begins with London on 24 April, will next focus on the South East on 15 May, sharing initiatives from across the region with a panel that includes Ade Byrne, CIO Southampton University Hospital and Jane Barnacle, regional director for digital transformation NHS E&I South East.

Further additions to the Digital Responses to Covid-19 regional programme will follow.
