Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH) NHS Foundation Trust has selected Genesis Automation to deliver a medical supplies solution.
Genesis has been chosen to provide RUH with an inventory management and point of care solution that can help the RUH track demand for and consumption of its stock.
The solution includes barcode scanning software which allows hospital staff to track, count and cost everything used.
It is hoped that the result will free clinicians from paper-based administrative duties, allowing more time for patient care.
Cost-savings could also be another benefit as clinicians have access to real-time visibility of every item bought, preventing over- and under-stocking, supplies expiring and allowing implants to be traced to individual patients.
The Genesis system will initially be implemented in the RUH’s surgical wards; cardiology, trauma, orthopaedics and general theatres.
The roll-out will take place over the next five years.
Paul Jackson, UK and Ireland general manager at Genesis Automation, said: “RUH identified a need to release nursing time back into patient care whilst increasing patient safety, improve inventory management, and delivering savings.
“Genesis was chosen for its competitiveness in providing an advanced system, already delivering these benefits for other customers across the UK.”
