Sky is the limit for JAC Computer Services as it re-names to WellSky

Pharmacy and EPMA solution provider JAC Computer Services has re-named as WellSky International (WellSky) to both refresh the company and ensure it reflects the company’s vision.

This follows the 2018 re-naming of Mediware Information Systems, the parent company of Basildon based JAC and Dutch company Mediware Information Systems (MIS) BV, to WellSky. At that time MIS also changed its name to WellSky BV.

CEO of JAC, Rob Tysall Blay, told Digital Health News that the re-name was decided in order to bring everyone together for “one vision”.

He added: “It [JAC] was an old term, an old name which did not reflect the breadth of what we now do.”

JAC and WellSky BV have been leading providers of integrated medicines management for 40 years. Its platform consists of the flagship pharmacy management system, integrated EPMA solution and chemotherapy management system used by customers across the UK, South Africa, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway and Sweden.

These solutions will also be renamed as WellSky Pharmacy, WellSky EPMA and WellSky Chemotherapy.

Looking towards the future, Tysall Blay said WellSky would “continue to grow” and would help “support an ever expanding medicine management and healthcare market place”, including acute, community and mental health care.

He also added that despite having a notable presence outside the UK, WellSky is still very much “committed to the NHS”.

When questioned about national policy and the imminent launch of NHSX, the unit tasked with overseeing digital transformation across the NHS, Tysall Blay said he believed things are “going in the right direction”.

He added: “We need to digitise the health system in a way that is usable, it is not just about computerising.

“However, I do think that the drive for technology started before Matt Hancock.

“Scepticism surrounding IT seems to be diminishing as people realise that when it [technology] is applied properly, it can make a real difference to the quality of healthcare provision and organisational efficiencies.”

Part of NHSX’s vision also includes promoting integration and interoperability, something which Tysall Blay says is important to WellSky.

He said: “It is absolutely crucial that all of our systems are interoperable that’s where true integration lies.”
