Two Midland’s NHS Trusts select Servelec Rio EPR

Two Midlands NHS Trusts’ have selected Servelec’s RiO electronic patient record (EPR) system.

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are expected to go live with the system by the end of the year.

The neighbouring trusts provide mental health care as separate organisations, but plans to merge the two organisations to boost mental health, child services and support for those with learning difficulties, are currently underway.

The full merger is expected to take place early next year.

Servelec’s Rio EPR will enable greater interoperability across both trusts as well as creating a single patient record and enhancing the flow of information securely.

Mark Syrett, joint EPR programme director for both trusts, said “We needed a system that would bring our patient records together across both organisations – a system that was responsive to our needs, a recognised and highly regarded EPR particularly for mental health.

“The benefit of Rio is the single patient record, where all details are in one place. The system is configurable and intuitive to use.

“Many other NHS organisations across the midlands use Rio, so we anticipate this will significantly help with future interoperability across the geography.”

In a separate story, Servelec and enterprise mobility software provider Totalmobile launched a new joint solution in January 2018.

Totalmobile Mobilise for RiO integrates the Servelec RiO clinical system with Totalmobile’s mobile-based workforce software, allowing care professionals to access patient information from the electronic patient record (EPR) using a smartphone or tablet.
